If you took the path to the second crystal it has a more obvious hidden wall since the only way to get the green block is through the other side. All it takes is bumping a few walls for progress. If you know a room has a switch blocked door then the next room won't just lead to a dead end. I also don't think the first crystal is bad either. You talk about simple logic, but you're dismissing both other crystals being behind doors AND someone telling you there's something hidden behind the waterfall. The moment I saw a waterfall stuck behind a wall with the switch next to the wall, I knew there was a hidden door there. Sorry, but I don't see the waterfall as a fault of the game because I did notice it asap. Hope the sequel will be a great success too. Last but not least, I'm still enjoying the game enough to say that I'm grateful. it made me remember a very similar (although much more unpleasant and confusing) moment from FEZ.Īlso during all the confusion I managed to learn the infinite bubble jumping ability with just non-upgraded blue crystal, so there are not many places left for me to use the upgraded one. I've played many other metroidvania games but I appreciate the contrast - that someone tried to make a game that is much more friendly for people with no experience at all. The manner of dialogue with the player up until now is unusually friendly for the genre and the overall pace made it feel almost like a puzzle platformer. Such things break the feeling of consistence. 2 previous crystals being behind the doors is not a good clue either. You can't see yourself behind it, and there are no clues about what exactly is hidden. Give actual visual clues and don't force the player to mash buttons to proceed with the main playthrough. Either make him notice it asap or don't use it. Secret rooms that look optional should not be a part of the main playthrough. Simple logic pieces that could have prevented these: And the hint from the NPC was not helpful enough. Its existence is not obvious at all.ģrd crystal: I was stuck for more than an hour before I found a hint on forums about the important thing being hidden behind the waterfall and you have to press a button at the very specific place. 2 crystals out of 3 are too difficult to find.ġst crystal: the path to it requires revealing the secret room (which is also not linked to adjacent tiles on map).
